SPECIAL CLUB NOTE: the AGM to elect officers will be held after the races. So start early and be back. See newsletter for details of AGM. (AGENDA)
SPECIAL SAFETY NOTE: Park is keeping track of a mountain lion sighted in the southern part of the park. Whistles are required and will be available at registration. - - - Courses will be set in the northern part of the park.
Come out and enjoy
This event has three new course setters. Jane Baumgartner, Kary Miller and Carol Silberg will be planning and setting White through Long Orange. No advanced courses will be offered due to the size of the park and the amount of brush. The area has not been field checked in many years and has had tremendous overgrowth. The goal this year will be to stay mostly in the front part of the park and avoid much of the fight.
Our General Annual Meeting to elect officers will also take place following this event. Note early course closure time and be back for the AGM (AGENDA).
Also the days are short this time of year so picking up controls needs to be done before dusk.
There is poison oak in some parts of the park. While we make every effort not to drag you through it, route choice is still your own. Wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt and be sure to wash thoroughly after completing the course.
This park is very popular among the locals for walking, horse-back riding and Tai Chi.
There is a stable in the park as well as many horseback riders throughout. Please be careful around the horses so as not to spook them. Walk when near horses, do not run and please do not wave your maps around. Parents, please make sure your children understand etiquette around these very large animals or someone may get hurt.
April can be either very nice or it can still be a bit chilly, so bring something warm to wear after the event and stay a while to help out if you can. Volunteers are always needed so please ask around if you can help.
Some light refreshments will be provided after the event but bringing a sack lunch is always a good idea.
We look forward to seeing you there and happy orienteering.
