PASSES and PARKING updated June 2006

Some places in So CAl forests no longer need an Adventure Pass. This is always in a state of flux so be prepared with extra dollars. (for instance Anza Borrego was free, then a fee, now free again). This page attempts to describe which passes are needed for each area and what they cost.

  • Adventure Pass: This pass is required to "park" in MOST areasa of Southern California National Forests. There are some new rules for the pass. see new NFS rules They are not needed everywhere. The 4 Local forests now designate areas of High-impact and Rec-Areas specifically as still needing the Pass.

    In general, if you are parked in an official NFS campground you do not pay the pass fee (but you need a day-use fee for the campground) The cost is $5.00 for a day pass, and $30.00 for an anual pass. [ note: Golden Age Passports can used in place of the NFS Adventure Pass! (4/18/03) !}
